Obviously as a Vegan, I do as best I can to go for Cruelty Free brands and luckily, Makeup Revolution are Cruelty free and don't sell in China, which is fab. They say they are looking into marking their products as vegan, but for now, I just check the ingredients. We can only do the best we can and I do feel that I am pretty careful with my beauty products when it comes to them being vegan and cruelty free, so you can make your own mind up on how you feel about this.
So, the first thing I wanted to share was the 'Vivid Baked Highlighter' from Revolution. They have a few different shades of this, but I decided to go for 'Golden Lights', as I've been using a pinky toned highlighter all summer and fancied something a bit warmer for Autumn/ Winter. The colour of this as you can see is very light, it's almost a white shade with golden shimmer running through. It is a shimmer, not a glitter, which I really like as I love a strong highlight, but I'm not a fan of looking like a Disco Ball! It's pretty strongly pigmented when you swatch it on your finger, so for a subtle highlight you really don't need to use very much at all. Just a quick sweep of my brush and it gives a strong, beautiful highlight. That said though, if you use a light hand and blend this out, it can also be super subtle too, so don't let the strong pigmentation put you off.
The texture of this is pretty typical of a baked highlighter product, very soft and easy to blend. What's great is that the golden shimmer is not just an over-spray, which is ahugepet peeve of mine with products like this. So how it looks on first swipe is how it'll look with every single use. It sits beautifully over powdered skin, which is how I generally use it, but I have used it over liquid foundation too and while it's not quite as easy to blend, it still blends out nicely and sits very well on my skin. I use this on my cheekbones, brow bone and the inner corners of my eyes and it seriouslylasts. If I don't touch my face too much (which I'm tryingsohard to stop doing so much), it will honestly last all day long. The best part? This literally costs £3! For a product that you need to use so little of and lasts all day, that's a serious bargain! Definitely a winner if like me, you're trying to save money. I've inserted a little photo of me wearing the highlighter below, I couldn't for the life of me get a decent enough light to get a true representation of how lovely this product is, but hopefully it may give you an idea!!
Overall, I couldn't recommend this enough. I can honestly say I would choose this over several high end highlighters that I have and have been using this on a daily basis over every other highlighter in my collection.
What do you think? What's your favourite budget beauty brand?
gorgeous :)
